❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is asynchronous psychiatry?
Instead of live appointments, you send a secure video message to your psychiatrist at your convenience.
They respond with their own video reply within 1 business day (but usually within hours). It’s flexible, private, and designed around your schedule. Is this real medical care?
Yes. Care is provided by a board-certified psychiatrist. We can provide diagnoses, prescribe medications (excluding controlled substances), and order lab tests when appropriate. Can I use my insurance?
Ever Psychiatry is a cash-based practice and cannot accept insurance due to current insurance rules. We offer simple, flat-rate, transparent pricing. We think the unparalleled convenience and high-quality care will be more than worth the money. Then how much will it cost?
We charge $150 per 30 minutes of total video messaging time. For example, if you send your psychiatrist a 5 minute video message explaining your mental health issue, your psychiatrist may response with a 5 video message asking some follow-up questions, then you may respond with a 5-minute response, and finally your psychiatrist responds with a 5-minute conclusion with the diagnosis and plan (total = 20 minutes), so you will be billed $100 for this "appointment."Can you prescribe controlled substances like Adderall or Xanax?
No. Due to federal regulations, we cannot prescribe controlled substances via telemedicine at this time. If these are clinically necessary, we can help connect you with in-person care.Who is this service for?
This service is designed for adults with mild to moderate mental health or behavioral concerns. It is not appropriate for emergencies, crisis situations, or high-risk conditions requiring in-person care. What if I’m not sure this is right for me?
You’re welcome to join the waitlist. We’ll follow up with more details before you commit to anything, and you can unsubscribe anytime. What’s the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors (MD or DO) who can diagnose, prescribe medications, and order lab tests. Psychologists focus on therapy and psychological testing but are not medically trained and do not prescribe medications. What doctor will I see?
During our pilot phase, all care is provided by Dr. Brandon Brown, an ABPN board-certified psychiatrist.
As we grow, additional licensed providers will join our team.Where is this service available?
We currently serve patients who reside in Texas, with plans to expand nationwide.
If you’re in another state, feel free to join the waitlist and we’ll keep you informed. When will you launch?
While we cannot give a specific launch date yet, we are hoping to launch within the next few months. What technology do I need?
Just a smartphone or computer with a camera and internet connection.
You don’t need to download anything—everything is easy to use through a secure online portal. Is the technology secure and HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. We use a combination of in-house and trusted third-party platforms.
All communication is encrypted and fully HIPAA-compliant to protect your privacy.
